Sen. Chiz wants 100% energization of Sorsogon

Francis Joseph “Chiz” G. Escudero, a Philippine senator since 2007 to present and former Sorsogon  congressman in the Pillars of the New Republic from 1999 to 2001 shared his vision on 100% energization of the whole Sorsogon province when he delivered his speech at the SORECO II’s 29th Annual Membership Assembly (AGMA).

The senator understood the struggles of SORECO II before obtaining an “A” categorization in 2017 taking into account the drawbacks brought by various fast changing facets in the electric industry and by ravaging typhoons.  He appealed for MCOs to cooperate and support SORECO II in order for the coop to regain its strength thus become more efficient and improve delivery of services to its end users. Senator Chiz discussed his programs on sitio energization. “An sakuyang programa mapa energize an mga dakulang sitios anay, tapos an ibang mga sitios na saday, pasiring na kami sa pagpapahiwas kan mga barangay sites tanganing may options an mga nag iistar sa mga hararayo na sitio na magbalyo o magpabalay sa sentro kan barangay maski didto sinda nag uuma o naglalati, an importante may oportunidad sinda magkailaw,” the guest speaker said.

Sa parte kan SORECO DOS pinapa-estudyaran ko na kun pano asin gurano an kaipuhan tanganing sa irarom ta na paagihon an gabos na wire kan SORECO,” he added. “Here’s why: We are ravaged whenever hit by typhoons resulting to 2-3 mos downtime until power is restored and the lavish expenses on the coop and government’s part,” he averred.

“An Sorsogon nasa Eastern seaboard kaya nag aagi pirmi an bagyo. Pag nasa irarom na an wires, pag agi san bagyo ma-switch off na lang kita, pag hali kan bagyo ma-switch on na lang kita lain na maapektuhan an serbisyo kan SORECO,” good senator explained. #mpd

7,945 member-consumers troop to SORECO II’s 29th Annual Assembly via electronic registration

Multi-Sectoral Electrification Advisory Council members (in front wearing pink polo shirts) listen intently to the speeches and reports presented during S2 29th AGMA.

The SORECO II Member Services Department wrapped up a successful conduct of 29th Annual General Membership Assembly where 7,945 (10.47%) of the total 75,868 MCOs in the SORECO II franchise area registered and participated on 21st of April 2018 at the Sorsogon National High School covered court.
Earlier in the preparation for the activity, S2 members registered thru electronic registration at the branch offices using CWDOs’ desktops and laptops with biometrics machines and webcams to permanently record their membership details.
After the meeting was called to order and proof of notice was presented, BOD Secretary Laurencia J. Ferolino declared

Adelfa Jasareno of Bagong Sirang, Macabog, West, 70-y.o. who attended the 29th AGMA on April 21 2018 had to be rescued by the SORECO II ERT at around 9:00 in the morning after her face and lips turned pale due to shortness of breathing caused by intense hot weather, according to Ricardo Bonita of ERT. To protect Adela from dehydration, the team gave her water. Convinced that the situation was under control, they then agreed to send the senior citizen home using the SORECO II rescue van. #mpd

the presence of quorum . Considering the minutes of the previous AGMA, Ms. Ferolino also raised the matters arising therefrom. In addition to Internal Audit Department Manager Iluminado H. Bello’s report on audited financial statement, other department managers  disclosed the coop’s accomplishments and projects. BOD President Aurelio D. Destacamento who gave the welcome address also introduced the event’s guest speaker, Senator “Chiz” Escudero.

Meanwhile, the attending Multi-Sectoral Electrification Committee officers and members called on the MCOs to support the new businesses presented by the SII management. The General Assemby then, approved the Cash Operating Budget for 2018 and passed a GA Resolution amending the SORECO II Articles of Cooperarion by including thereto the installation, operation and maintenance of (i) internet systems; (ii) Radio and/or TV project. Before the much awaited raffle draw portion proceeded, MSEAC Cesar Esperida of Gubat motioned to adjourn the assembly which was unanimously seconded.
This major activity with 10.47% attendance out of the 5% NEA requirement created huge impact on the coop’s performance standards. SORECO II owed its triumph to the board, management, MSEAC and the employees’ working committees who worked hand-in-hand since day one. The 29th AGMA thru electronic registration was designed to open up wider MCO participation in coop affairs like this. SORECO II concluded two (2) “firsts” in its history this year- the BOD election thru electronic voting and electronic AGMA registration. #mpd
